Interior
Living floor, Balkot
The main floor of a Balkot house, with sitting, dining and kitchen held as one room.
New houses in Balkot are usually handed over as three separate boxes on the family floor, none of them big enough on its own.
Here they are opened into a single room and then divided again by joinery rather than walls: a slatted timber screen marks the change from sitting to dining, and a stone-faced media wall anchors the seating end. Because the divisions are furniture-height, the daylight from both ends of the floor carries all the way through.
