Chitrakala office

An open workplace in Thapathali, with glazed rooms that close for a call without losing the light.

Thapathali office floors are deep and have windows on one side only, so the plan question is always how far the daylight can be made to travel.

The enclosed rooms are therefore built in black-framed glass and pushed into the middle of the floor rather than against the window wall. Desks keep the perimeter and the glazed boxes borrow light through it, so a meeting can be closed off acoustically while the floor stays bright. The finish set is deliberately plain — white, steel and pale timber — because the walls are for the client's own work.
