A suburban Australian block is not a Kathmandu plot: the setbacks are generous, the ground is flat, and the house is expected to open onto its own garden rather than defend itself from a party wall.

The house is arranged low and long in face brick under tiled roofs, with the living rooms turned to the rear garden and a raised timber deck stepping down to lawn. It is included here because the studio designed it, not as a claim to practise in Australia — the office is in Kathmandu.
