Commercial
Anupam Mall
A four-storey shopping centre in Sitapaila, planned so every tenancy is visible from the road.
A mall on a Kathmandu arterial is judged from a moving vehicle first and from the pavement second. Both have to work.
The elevation is a simple stacked frame with the shopfronts fully glazed, so each floor of tenancies reads as its own band of light and signage sits inside the structure instead of being bolted over it. The entrance is pulled to the centre and raised a few steps clear of the road, with the service and parking held to one flank so the frontage is not broken by a vehicle crossing.
